It was Christmas time last year. I knew I had listening devices or covert cameras installed in my house by my ex-husband. We split up two years ago, but he seemed to know things that didn’t make sense to me. I tried looking for the devices myself on multiple occasions; I tipped the house upside down several times, looking for them. I bought a bug detector online. I knew it wasn’t going to work, but I was desperate. It didn’t work; it flashed and beeped everywhere—a waste of time and money. I even went as far as going to the police. The police told me they could do nothing as there was no evidence to act on. I knew I couldn’t keep living like this. I felt like I was a prisoner in my own home.
I eventually rang Jack at National Private Investigators. I had to do this from my garden as I couldn’t talk inside the house. I explained my situation to him, he listened to what I said, and he sent me an information pack which explained how the process went. He told me how much it would be and that he could be with me the next day. I paid the invoice right away as I just wanted peace of mind. I couldn’t keep living like this.
The next day Jack came to my house. He was instantly calming, which was good as I was nervous about the process. He brought all his kit in with him, which looked impressive—cases and cases of technical equipment. We went over everything again and asked further questions about the situation. Again he talked me through the process and how he would do it. It’s like he was teaching me what he was doing, which was reassuring.
Within 5 minutes, jack had found the first listening device. It was plugged into the wall in the living room. Even though I had high suspicions, I was so shocked and upset. Jack was taking photos of the device and put in a sealed evidence bag. He continued on the sweep and found four more devices. Three of which were still life and listening. I couldn’t quite believe it. My ex had bugged my living room, bedroom and kitchen for the last two years. I’d had counselling in the house over the divorce. I sat on my bed and spoke to a counsellor for months about the divorce I had been through and all the time my ex had been listening in on me. It was sickening. Jack evidenced everything. He consoled me and calmed me down. He even swept my car for free, which was terrific. I couldn’t thank him enough for his help and for making me feel safe in my home again.
Within 24hrs Jack provided me with a 35-page report with all the pictures and descriptions of the sweep. I took that and the evidence bags to the local police station and reported the crime with further assistance from Jack, who gave statements to the police. The police eventually tracked him down and raided his house. When they raided his house, they found the instruction manuals for the devices jack in my house. They also found multiple cameras and listening devices in his home, which he used to spy on his new girlfriend. My ex-husband is now being prosecuted for numerous offences.
I’m so glad I finally plucked the courage to ring Jack when I did. I kicked myself; I didn’t do it sooner. I’m now comfortable on my own again. I can’t thank Jack enough for his help and support. What he does changes lives.
